South Gray Rebels (Montezuma, KS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Kiowa County Mavericks (Greensburg, KS), 57-49 in a non-league bout.

With the win, South Gray upgrades its record to 16-3 on the season. The Rebels host Spearville (Spearville, KS) to play the Lancers in a Southern Plains-Iroquois bout on Tuesday, February 21. The Lancers go into the bout with a record of 6-13. Spearville lost 52-48 in their recent non-league bout against Meade (Meade, KS)

Next up, the Mavericks play the Pawnee Heights Tigers (Rozel, KS) in a Southern Plains-Iroquois bout, on Tuesday, February 21. Kiowa County will attempt to upgrade on its 8-12 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 14-5 record after their 54-52 non-league win over Satanta (Satanta, KS).
