The South Cougars (Salina, KS) basketball nipped the host Maize Eagles (Maize, KS), 41-38 in Friday's non-league test.
The Cougars (8-10) will now prepare for their test against Valley Center (Valley Center, KS). The Hornets go into the non-league test with a 6-12 record. In their last test, Valley Center got by Salina Central (Salina, KS), 44-34, in a non-league test.
The Eagles now own a 3-15 record. They play next when they travel to Newton for a non-league test on Tuesday, February 21. Maize will encounter a Railroaders squad coming off a 41-31 non-league loss to Andover (Andover, KS). The Railroaders record now stands at 6-12.
