Smithville Smithies (Smithville, OH) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Dalton Bulldogs (Dalton, OH), 44-36 in a league bout.

With the win, Smithville upgrades its record to 18-2 on the season. The Smithies host Hilliard Davidson (Hilliard, OH) to clash with the Wildcats in a non-league bout on Saturday, February 4. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 3-16. Hilliard Davidson lost 50-19 in their recent league bout against Dublin Coffman (Dublin, OH)

Next up, the Bulldogs clash with the Waynedale Golden Bears (Apple Creek, OH) in a Wayne County bout, on Thursday, February 9. Dalton will attempt to upgrade on its 6-12 season record. The Golden Bears go into the bout with a 18-3 record after their 50-34 non-league win over West Holmes (Millersburg, OH).
