The Irion County Hornets (Mertzon, TX) basketball knocked off the host Bronte Longhorns (Bronte, TX), 41-24 in Friday's league test.

The Hornets (13-7) will now prepare for their outing against Veribest (Veribest, TX). The Falcons go into the 1A Region II District 11 outing with a 15-16 record. In their last outing, Veribest was beaten by Robert Lee (Robert Lee, TX), 48-36, in a league outing.

The Longhorns now own a 7-20 record. They play next when they travel to Garden City for a 1A Region II District 11 outing on Tuesday, February 6.
