Virginia High School Basketball - Galax can't hold off Grayson County

February 2, 2024: Independence, VA 24348

The Grayson County Blue Devils basketball team scored 42 points and restricted the visiting Galax Maroon Tide to 39 in the Blue Devils league victory on Friday.

The Blue Devils now sport a 7-12 record. They put it on the line next when they host Fort Chiswell for a Mountain Empire contest on Tuesday, February 6. Grayson County will battle a Pioneers team coming off a 47-34 league loss to Giles (Pearisburg, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 8-11.

The Maroon Tide (7-11) will now prepare for their contest against Auburn (Riner, VA). The Eagles come into the Mountain Empire contest with a 13-7 record. In their last contest, Auburn edged Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA), 65-63, in a non-league contest.
