The Melbourne Bearkatz basketball team scored 68 points and held the host Newport Greyhounds to 47 in the Bearkatz league triumph on Friday.
The Bearkatz now sport a 14-10 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Tuckerman for a 3A Region 2 contest on Saturday, February 3. Melbourne will battle a Bulldogs team coming off a 79-46 league win over Hoxie (Hoxie, AR). The Bulldogs record now stands at 21-11.
The Greyhounds (4-20) will now prepare for their contest against Rose Bud (Rose Bud, AR). The Ramblers enter the non-league contest with a 10-13 record. In their last contest, Rose Bud was routed by Harding Academy (Searcy, AR), 61-60, in a league contest.
