Troup Tigers (Troup, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Waskom Wildcats (Waskom, TX), 53-51 in a league bout.

With the win, Troup upgrades its record to 23-6 on the season. The Tigers host West Rusk (New London, TX) to clash with the Raiders in a 3A Region II District 16 bout on Tuesday, February 6. The Raiders go into the bout with a record of 4-15.

Next up, the Wildcats clash with the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets (Elysian Fields, TX) in a 3A Region II District 16 bout, on Tuesday, February 6. Waskom will attempt to upgrade on its 9-21 season record. The Yellowjackets go into the bout with a 11-10 record after their 67-38 non-league win over King's Academy (Tyler, TX).
