Game Summary
Two months of hard work for a still very new Watauga team paid off against a respected opponent, Patton High. Both teams came out hard with one goal each in the first few minutes. Patton capitalized on a Watauga defensive error with a quick goal on the crease followed by a long range score to make it 3-1 Patton at the end of Q1. Both teams scored in Q2 to make it 4-2 Patton at the half with Patton looking strong led by two good ball handlers and out hustling on ground balls. Watauga offense reset at halftime, slowing down and focusing on ball control and quality shots. Watauga held Patton scoreless in Q3 by pushing the defense out to create pressure and control Patton's tempo. Watauga finally played some team offense with quality shots in Q4 with three goals, taking the lead with 2 mins to play. Patton got the ball off a missed Watauga shot and scored with 30 seconds left. Game goes to OT. Watauga scored off the first faceoff for the win.
