Stratford Spartans (Houston, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Cypress Creek Cougars (Houston, TX), 2-1 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 9-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Northbrook for a 6A Region III District 17 challenge on Tuesday, March 5. Stratford will battle a Raiders squad coming off a 5-4 non-league loss to Fort Bend Kempner (Sugar Land, TX). The Raiders record now stands at 8-4.

With the loss, Cypress Creek falls to 3-4 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Cypress Lakes (Katy, TX) to battle the Spartans in a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 29. The Spartans enter the challenge with a record of 2-5. Cypress Lakes lost 12-0 in their recent league challenge against Cypress Woods (Cypress, TX)
