Athens Academy Spartans (Athens, GA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Banks County Leopards (Homer, GA), 62-61 in a league bout.

With the win, Athens Academy upgrades its record to 14-9 on the season. The Spartans travel to East Jackson (Commerce, GA) to play the Eagles in a AA Region 8 bout on Tuesday, February 7. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 8-16. East Jackson lost 69-46 in their recent league bout against Union County (Blairsville, GA)

Next up, the Leopards play the Providence Christian Academy Storm (Lilburn, GA) in a AA Region 8 bout, on Tuesday, February 7. Banks County will attempt to upgrade on its 16-8 season record.
