Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Covington Cougars (Covington, VA) and the visiting Eastern Montgomery Mustangs (Elliston, VA), saw Covington's basketball team achieve victory over Eastern Montgomery by a tally of 72-56.

The Cougars now possess a 8-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Alleghany for a non-league battle on Saturday, February 4. Covington will battle a Mountaineers team coming off a 54-49 league win over James River (Buchanan, VA). The Mountaineers record now stands at 9-12.

The Mustangs (1-18) will now prepare for their battle against Fort Chiswell (Max Meadows, VA). The Pioneers come into the non-league battle with a 7-14 record. In their last battle, Fort Chiswell dropped by Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA), 71-56, in a league battle.
