Escalante Lobos (Tierra Amarilla, NM) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mora Rangers/Rangerettes (Mora, NM), 38-28 in a league bout.

With the win, Escalante upgrades its record to 6-14 on the season. The Lobos host McCurdy (Espanola, NM) to play the Bobcats in a 2A District 5 bout on Thursday, February 8. The Bobcats go into the bout with a record of 6-10. McCurdy won 27-22 in their recent league bout against Mora (Mora, NM)

Next up, the Rangers/Rangerettes play the Santa Rosa Lions (Santa Rosa, NM) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, February 6. Mora will attempt to upgrade on its 5-11 season record. The Lions go into the bout with a 2-17 record after their 40-22 league loss to Texico (Texico, NM).
