Perquimans Pirates (Hertford, NC) supporters left the game happy Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the visiting Gates County Red Barons (Gatesville, NC), 59-58 in a league match.
With the victory, Perquimans advances its record to 4-16 on the year. The Pirates host North Pitt (Bethel, NC) to meet the Panthers in a non-league match on Wednesday, February 5. The Panthers enter the match with a record of 5-15. North Pitt won 55-51 in their recent league match against Ayden - Grifton (Ayden, NC)
The Red Barons now own a 6-11 record. They put it on the line next when they host Martin County for a 1A/2A Four Rivers match on Tuesday, February 4. Gates County will meet a Gators squad coming off a 62-59 league loss to Tarboro (Tarboro, NC). The Gators record now stands at 11-4.
