In Tuesday's league contest, the visiting Salmen Spartans basketball team scored a close 52-49 triumph over the Chalmette Owls.

The Spartans (12-18) will now prepare for their contest against Northshore (Slidell, LA). The Panthers go into the 5A District 7 contest with a 22-6 record. In their last challenge, Northshore edged Slidell (Slidell, LA), 70-55, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Owls encounter the Pearl River Rebels (Pearl River, LA) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, February 6. Chalmette will attempt to improve on its 8-20 season record. The Rebels come into the challenge with a 16-13 record after their 90-59 non-league win over Mt. Hermon (Mt. Hermon, LA).
