The Palo Duro Dons (Amarillo, TX) basketball edged the visiting Monterey Plainsmen (Lubbock, TX), 72-68 in Tuesday's league bout.

The Dons now possess a 26-4 record. They play next when they host Amarillo for a 5A Region I District 3 bout on Friday, February 7. Palo Duro will play a Sandies team coming off a 42-23 league win over Lubbock-Cooper (Lubbock, TX). The Sandies record now stands at 28-5.

With the loss, Monterey falls to 14-18 on the campaign. The Plainsmen travel to Coronado (Lubbock, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 5A Region I District 3 bout on Friday, February 7. The Mustangs go into the bout with a record of 11-18. Coronado lost 53-50 in their recent league bout against Tascosa (Amarillo, TX)
