In Monday's non-league outing, the Patrick County Cougars (Stuart, VA) basketball squad overwhelmed the visiting James River Knights (Buchanan, VA), by a margin of 69-40.

The Cougars (3-16) will now prepare for their outing against Carroll County (Hillsville, VA). The Cavaliers go into the Three Rivers outing with a 19-1 record. In their last outing, Carroll County smashed Radford (Radford, VA), 61-55, in a league outing.

The Knights now own a 5-17 record. They play next when they travel to Glenvar for a Three Rivers outing on Friday, February 9. James River will clash with a Highlanders squad coming off a 75-63 non-league win over William Byrd (Vinton, VA). The Highlanders record now stands at 7-13.
