Shepherd Pirates (Shepherd, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls (Anderson, TX), 47-41 in a league bout.

With the win, Shepherd upgrades its record to 19-13 on the season. The Pirates host Coldspring-Oakhurst (Coldspring, TX) to play the Trojans in a 3A Region III District 23 bout on Friday, February 9. The Trojans go into the bout with a record of 25-7. Coldspring-Oakhurst won 59-49 in their recent league bout against Trinity (Trinity, TX)

Next up, the Fighting Owls play the Onalaska Wildcats (Onalaska, TX) in a 3A Region III District 23 bout, on Friday, February 9. Anderson-Shiro will attempt to upgrade on its 9-18 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 15-18 record after their 67-58 league win over New Waverly (New Waverly, TX).
