Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Shallowater Mustangs (Shallowater, TX) and the host Childress Bobcats (Childress, TX), saw Shallowater's basketball squad hold off Childress by a tally of 72-66.

With the victory, Shallowater improves its record to 26-2 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Roosevelt (Lubbock, TX) to play the Eagles in a 3A Region I District 2 battle on Friday, February 9. The Eagles come into the battle with a record of 11-14. Roosevelt won 57-52 in their recent league battle against Abernathy (Abernathy, TX)

The Bobcats (22-8) will now prepare for their battle against Slaton (Slaton, TX). The Tigers come into the 3A Region I District 2 battle with a 12-16 record. In their last battle, Slaton edged Liberty (Lubbock, TX), 46-35, in a league battle.
