Slocum Mustangs (Elkhart, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Neches Tigers (Neches, TX), 55-43 in a league bout.

With the win, Slocum upgrades its record to 10-19 on the season. The Mustangs host Centerville (Groveton, TX) to play the Bulldogs in a 1A Region IV District 27 bout on Friday, February 9. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 5-21. Centerville lost 59-43 in their recent league bout against Apple Springs (Apple Springs, TX)

Next up, the Tigers play the Laneville Yellowjackets (Laneville, TX) in a 1A Region IV District 27 bout, on Friday, February 9. Neches will attempt to upgrade on its 16-12 season record. The Yellowjackets go into the bout with a 20-13 record after their 57-48 league loss to Wells (Wells, TX).
