In Tuesday's non-league outing, the Nelson County Governors (Lovingston, VA) basketball squad nipped the visiting Gretna Hawks (Gretna, VA), by a margin of 24-23.

The Governors (5-9) will now prepare for their outing against Altavista (Altavista, VA). The Colonels go into the non-league outing with a 4-5 record.

The Hawks now own a 1-10 record. They play next when they host Chatham for a non-league bout on Thursday, February 8. Gretna will play a Cavaliers squad coming off a 51-5 league loss to Appomattox County (Appomattox, VA). The Cavaliers record now stands at 2-10.
