The crowd at Thursday's league challenge between the Alburnett Pirates (Alburnett, IA) and the visiting East Buchanan Buccaneers (Winthrop, IA), observed Alburnett's basketball team overwhelm East Buchanan by a margin of 86-29.

The Pirates (16-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Marquette (Bellevue, IA). The Defenders come into the non-league challenge with a 19-0 record. In their last challenge, Marquette trounced Easton Valley (Preston, IA), 80-34, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Buccaneers battle the Prince of Peace Prep Irish (Clinton, IA) in a Tri-Rivers challenge, on Friday, February 7. East Buchanan will attempt to better on its 5-16 season record. The Irish come into the challenge with a 11-7 record after their 79-39 league win over North Cedar (Stanwood, IA).
