Springfield Tigers (Springfield, MN) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds (Winthrop, MN), 58-49 in a league bout.

With the win, Springfield upgrades its record to 13-9 on the season. The Tigers travel to St. Mary's (Sleepy Eye, MN) to clash with the Knights in a A Section 2 bout on Tuesday, February 13. The Knights go into the bout with a record of 16-6.

Next up, the Thunderbirds clash with the Sibley East Wolverines (Arlington, MN) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 9. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop will attempt to upgrade on its 9-14 season record. The Wolverines go into the bout with a 11-11 record after their 68-52 league loss to Belle Plaine (Belle Plaine, MN).
