Starpoint Spartans (Lockport, NY) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Hamburg Bulldogs (Hamburg, NY), 55-53 in a league bout.

With the victory, Starpoint upgrades its record to 7-9 on the campaign. The Spartans host Royalton-Hartland (Middleport, NY) to play the Rams in a non-league bout on Saturday, February 11. The Rams come into the bout with a record of 11-7. Royalton-Hartland won 67-52 in their recent league bout against Medina (Medina, NY)

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Williamsville East Flames (East Amherst, NY) in a Section 6 Erie County II bout, on Tuesday, February 14. Hamburg will attempt to upgrade on its 4-15 season record. The Flames come into the bout with a 8-9 record after their 88-87 league loss to Williamsville South (Williamsville, NY).
