North Carolina High School Basketball - East Mecklenburg can't hold off Independence

February 9, 2024: Charlotte, NC 28227

The Independence Patriots basketball team scored 57 points and held the visiting East Mecklenburg Eagles to 54 in the Patriots league triumph on Friday.

The Patriots now sport a 17-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Rocky River for a 4A Southwestern contest on Tuesday, February 13. Independence will battle a Ravens team coming off a 67-50 league loss to Providence (Charlotte, NC). The Ravens record now stands at 9-13.

The Eagles (11-11) will now prepare for their contest against Charlotte Catholic (Charlotte, NC). The Cougars enter the 4A Southwestern contest with a 15-8 record. In their last contest, Charlotte Catholic was nudged by Butler (Matthews, NC), 58-46, in a league contest.
