The Manila Lions softball team scored 15 runs and held the visiting Newport Greyhounds to 4 in the Lions league win on Tuesday.

The Lions now sport a 2-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Hoxie for a 3A Region 3 battle on Thursday, March 13. Manila will encounter a Mustangs team coming off a 4-3 league win over Rivercrest (Wilson, AR). The Mustangs record now stands at 2-3.

With the loss, Newport moves to 0-2 on the season. The Greyhounds host Walnut Ridge (Walnut Ridge, AR) to encounter the Bobcats in a 3A Region 3 battle on Thursday, March 13. The Bobcats come into the battle with a record of 2-1. Walnut Ridge won 6-2 in their recent league battle against Harrisburg (Harrisburg, AR)
