In Monday's league match, the visiting Manila Lions softball team scored a tight 13-8 victory over the Newport Greyhounds.

The Lions (5-9) will now prepare for their match against Marked Tree (Marked Tree, AR). The Indians go into the non-league match with a 7-5 record. In their last match, Marked Tree was routed by East Poinsett County (Lepanto, AR), 20-3, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Greyhounds battle the White County Central Bears (Judsonia, AR) in a non-league match, on Tuesday, April 22. Newport will attempt to better on its 1-12 season record. The Bears go into the match with a 5-9 record after their 6-2 non-league loss to Bradford (Bradford, AR).
