In Friday's league game, the host North Brunswick Scorpions baseball team scored a tight 8-7 victory over the Laney Buccaneers.

The Scorpions (7-1) will now prepare for their game against Topsail (Hampstead, NC). The Pirates go into the Mideastern 3A/4A game with a 2-4 record. In their last game, Topsail tipped Hoggard (Wilmington, NC), 6-4, in a league game.

The Buccaneers (2-2) will now prepare for their game against Swansboro (Swansboro, NC). The Pirates go into the non-league game with a 2-5 record. In their last game, Swansboro was edged by Jacksonville (Jacksonville, NC), 8-5, in a non-league game.
