Union Spartans (Rose Hill, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Lakewood Leopards (Roseboro, NC), 6-1 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 3-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Clinton for a non-league challenge on Monday, March 27.

With the loss, Lakewood falls to 3-5 on the campaign. The Leopards travel to North Duplin (Calypso, NC) to battle the Rebels in a Carolina 1A challenge on Thursday, March 23. The Rebels enter the challenge with a record of 5-1.
