Sulphur Springs Wildcats (Sulphur Springs, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Marshall Mavericks (Marshall, TX), 6-1 in a league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 14-1 record. They take the field next when they host Pine Tree for a 5A Region II District 15 challenge on Friday, March 25. Sulphur Springs will battle a Pirates squad coming off a 6-0 league loss to Marshall (Marshall, TX). The Pirates record now stands at 5-9.

With the loss, Marshall falls to 9-12 on the campaign. The Mavericks travel to Hallsville (Hallsville, TX) to battle the Bobcats in a 5A Region II District 15 challenge on Friday, March 25. The Bobcats enter the challenge with a record of 11-5. Hallsville won 8-3 in their recent league challenge against Texas (Texarkana, TX)
