Spectators at Wednesday's non-league match between the Alleghany Mountaineers (Covington, VA) and the host Rockbridge County Wildcats (Lexington, VA), witnessed Alleghany's softball squad tip Rockbridge County by a count of 7-4.

The Mountaineers now sport a 2-1 record. They play next when they travel to Covington for a non-league match on Friday, March 24. Alleghany will face a Cougars squad coming off a 13-1 non-league win over Roanoke Catholic (Roanoke, VA). The Cougars record now stands at 1-2.

With the loss, Rockbridge County moves to 1-3 on the season. The Wildcats host James River (Buchanan, VA) to face the Knights in a non-league match on Friday, March 24. The Knights go into the match with a record of 3-0. James River won 2-1 in their recent non-league battle against Salem (Salem, VA)
