Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) fans were thrilled Monday as they observed their soccer team triumph over the host Mount Airy Granite Bears (Mount Airy, NC), 8-2 in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Huskies face the Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) in a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge, on Tuesday, April 9. Ashe County will attempt to better on its 6-3 season record. The Cougars enter the challenge with a 3-3 record after their 7-0 non-league loss to Cuthbertson (Waxhaw, NC).

The Granite Bears now have a 3-2 record. They take the field next when they host North Stokes for a Northwest 1A challenge on Tuesday, March 26. Mount Airy will face a Vikings team coming off a 2-2 league Alleghany (Sparta, NC). The Vikings record now stands at 1-1.
