Nelson County Cardinals (Bardstown, KY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Spencer County Bears (Taylorsville, KY), 5-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 7-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Elizabethtown for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 30. Nelson County will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 21-0 league win over Fort Knox (Fort Knox, KY). The Panthers record now stands at 9-1.

With the loss, Spencer County falls to 3-3 on the campaign. The Bears host Fairdale (Fairdale, KY) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 28. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 4-2. Fairdale won 16-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Bullitt Central (Shepherdsville, KY)
