California High School Volleyball - Magnolia Science Academy Reseda over Lake Balboa College Prep

The Magnolia Science Academy Reseda Warriors volleyball team scored 3 points and restricted the visiting Lake Balboa College Prep Cougars to 1 in the Warriors league triumph on Thursday.

The Warriors now possess a 7-1 record. They play next when they travel to Sun Valley Magnet for a Central Valley outing on Wednesday, April 2. Magnolia Science Academy Reseda will clash with a Pioneers team coming off a 3-0 league win over Valor Academy (Van Nuys, CA). The Pioneers record now stands at 6-3.

With the loss, Lake Balboa College Prep drops to 1-10 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology (Sun Valley, CA) to clash with the Griffins in a Central Valley outing on Wednesday, April 2. The Griffins come into the outing with a record of 2-5. Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology lost 3-0 in their recent league outing against Magnolia Science Academy Van Nuys (Van Nuys, CA)

Match Summary

6 all in set 1 before MSAR took a commanding 12-6 lead. The Cougars narrowed it down to 13-15 before the Warriors exploded to lead 20-14. 5-5 sideout ball made it an easy win for the home team. Lake Balboa had a strong start in set 2 with an 8-3 lead. In their next rotation, the Warriors made it 9-8. Lake topped them at 10-9 before another huge push by MSAR rolled it up 14-10. The Cougars continued to be difficult battling back to 15 all. MSAR made another immediate response to go up 18-15 to hold the lead & win by trading points down the stretch 7-6. Down 2-6 in set 3, the teal & black had their Popeye moment. Big lakes have big storms & this one was enormous to rage to an 11-6 lead for LBCP. Again Lake Balboa blasted away for a 16-8 lead. The Cougars won handily 25-13. Too happy too soon, Lake Balboa did not come out strong in set 4. It was 7-1 Warriors in the 1st rotation. An 11 all comeback gave way to a 11-15 deficit. 20 all was their last hurrah before the Warriors won the match.
