Myrtle Hawks (Myrtle, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Pine Grove Panthers (Ripley, MS), 9-6 in a league challenge.

The Hawks now own a 9-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Walnut for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 1. Myrtle will face a Wildcats squad coming off a 6-1 league loss to Hatley (Amory, MS). The Wildcats record now stands at 5-9.

With the loss, Pine Grove falls to 11-8 on the campaign. The Panthers host Jumpertown (Booneville, MS) to face the Cardinals in a 1A Region 2 challenge on Tuesday, April 2. The Cardinals enter the challenge with a record of 4-3. Jumpertown won 16-0 in their recent league challenge against Byers (Holly Springs, MS)
