In Tuesday's league contest, the Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) softball team held off the visiting South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC), by a margin of 5-4.
With the triumph, Alexander Central moves its record to 12-0 on the year. The Cougars host Hibriten (Lenoir, NC) to play the Panthers in a Northwestern 3A/4A contest on Friday, April 1. The Panthers come into the contest with a record of 7-2. Hibriten won 9-1 in their recent league contest against Watauga (Boone, NC)
In their next game, the Spartans play the Hickory Red Tornadoes (Hickory, NC) in a non-league contest, on Wednesday, March 30. South Caldwell will attempt to move on its 5-1 season record. The Red Tornadoes come into the contest with a 2-8 record after their 10-0 league loss to Foard (Newton, NC).
