Union Pines Vikings (Cameron, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Pinecrest Patriots (Southern Pines, NC), 10-3 in a league challenge.

The Vikings now sport a 7-5 record. They take the field next when they host Lee County for a Sandhills 3A/4A challenge on Friday, April 1. Union Pines will face a Yellow Jackets squad coming off a 5-0 league loss to Southern Lee (Sanford, NC). The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 0-7.

With the loss, Pinecrest falls to 4-6 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC) to face the Trojans in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 30. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 2-7. West Brunswick lost 9-0 in their recent league challenge against Topsail (Hampstead, NC)
