Clairemont Chieftains (San Diego, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Hilltop Lancers (Chula Vista, CA), 13-6 in a non-league challenge.

The Chieftains now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Olympian for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 8. Clairemont will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 13-3 non-league loss to Santana (Santee, CA). The Eagles record now stands at 2-5.

With the loss, Hilltop falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Lancers host Calexico (Calexico, CA) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 8. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 2-1. Calexico won 12-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Bonita Vista (Chula Vista, CA)
