Eastland Mavericks (Eastland, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Early Longhorns (Early, TX), 13-8 in a league challenge.

The Mavericks now own a 9-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Peaster for a 3A Region I District 8 challenge on Friday, March 8. Eastland will battle a Greyhounds squad coming off a 7-6 league loss to Comanche (Comanche, TX). The Greyhounds record now stands at 9-5.

With the loss, Early falls to 0-12 on the campaign. The Longhorns travel to Brock (Brock, TX) to battle the Eagles in a 3A Region I District 8 challenge on Tuesday, March 12. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 5-5. Brock lost 9-5 in their recent league challenge against Breckenridge (Breckenridge, TX)
