The Newport Greyhounds baseball team scored 4 runs and held the visiting Walnut Ridge Bobcats to 2 in the Greyhounds league win on Thursday.

The Greyhounds now hold a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Rivercrest for a 3A Region 3 test on Tuesday, March 11.

With the defeat, Walnut Ridge drops to 2-1 on the year. The Bobcats host Hoxie (Hoxie, AR) to play the Mustangs in a 3A Region 3 test on Friday, March 7. The Mustangs go into the test with a record of 1-0. Hoxie won 15-0 in their recent non-league test against Augusta (Augusta, AR)
