The Weslaco Panthers overwhelmed the host La Joya Coyotes softball squad by a count of 17-0 in Friday's league challenge.

Next, the Panthers meet the Edinburg North Cougars (Edinburg, TX) in a 6A Region IV District 31 challenge, on Tuesday, March 11. Weslaco will attempt to upgrade on its 6-9 season record. The Cougars go into the challenge with a 15-4 record after their 15-4 non-league win over Raymondville (Raymondville, TX).

The Coyotes (2-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Edinburg (Edinburg, TX). The Bobcats go into the 6A Region IV District 31 challenge with a 7-5 record. In their last challenge, Edinburg was routed by Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (San Juan, TX), 23-6, in a league challenge.
