John Marshall Monarchs (Glen Dale, WV) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host University Hawks (Morgantown, WV), 9-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Monarchs now sport a 7-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Parkersburg for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 12. John Marshall will face a Big Reds squad coming off a 14-4 non-league loss to St. Marys (St. Marys, WV). The Big Reds record now stands at 2-6.

With the loss, University falls to 11-3 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to Wheeling Park (Wheeling, WV) to face the Patriots in a Two Rivers challenge on Wednesday, April 12. The Patriots enter the challenge with a record of 11-5. Wheeling Park won 6-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Morgantown (Morgantown, WV)
