La Porte Slicers (La Porte, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Valparaiso Vikings (Valparaiso, IN), 4-2 in a league challenge.

The Slicers now own a 6-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Lakeshore for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 14. La Porte will battle a Lancers squad coming off a 1-0 non-league loss to New Prairie (New Carlisle, IN). The Lancers record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Valparaiso falls to 0-4 on the campaign. The Vikings travel to Merrillville (Merrillville, IN) to battle the Pirates in a Duneland challenge on Thursday, April 13. The Pirates enter the challenge with a record of 0-4. Merrillville lost 18-0 in their recent league challenge against La Porte (La Porte, IN)
