Essex Trojans (Tappahannock, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Lancaster Red Devils (Lancaster, VA), 17-3 in a league challenge.

The Trojans now own a 9-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Caroline for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 14. Essex will face a Cavaliers squad coming off a 6-4 league win over Chancellor (Fredericksburg, VA). The Cavaliers record now stands at 4-4.

With the loss, Lancaster falls to 3-8 on the campaign. The Red devils travel to Westmoreland (Montross, VA) to face the Eagles in a Northern Neck challenge on Monday, April 17. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 5-3. Westmoreland lost 9-2 in their recent league challenge against Rappahannock (Warsaw, VA)
