Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (Nixon, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Cole Cougars (San Antonio, TX), 16-5 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 12-13 record. They take the field next when they host Luling for a 3A Region IV District 26 challenge on Tuesday, April 19. Nixon-Smiley will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 14-7 league loss to Stockdale (Stockdale, TX). The Eagles record now stands at 6-15.

With the loss, Cole falls to 5-20 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Randolph (Universal City, TX) to battle the Ro-Hawks in a 3A Region IV District 26 challenge on Tuesday, April 19. The Ro-Hawks enter the challenge with a record of 6-16. Randolph lost 16-1 in their recent league challenge against Marion (Marion, TX)
