Sweetwater Mustangs (Sweetwater, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Big Spring Steers (Big Spring, TX), 5-3 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now sport a 11-8 record. They take the field next when they host Estacado for a 4A Region I District 5 challenge on Tuesday, April 18. Sweetwater will face a Matadors squad coming off a 24-13 league loss to Snyder (Snyder, TX). The Matadors record now stands at 10-21.

With the loss, Big Spring falls to 9-10 on the campaign. The Steers host Levelland (Levelland, TX) to face the Lobos in a 4A Region I District 5 challenge on Tuesday, April 18. The Lobos enter the challenge with a record of 23-6. Levelland won 21-1 in their recent league challenge against Lake View (San Angelo, TX)
