Hazleton Area Cougars (Hazleton, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Crestwood Comets (Mountain Top, PA), 9-4 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 4-2 record. They take the field next when they host Berwick for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 18. Hazleton Area will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 6-5 league loss to Wyoming Area (Exeter, PA). The Bulldogs record now stands at 6-2.

With the loss, Crestwood falls to 4-5 on the campaign. The Comets host Pittston (Pittston, PA) to battle the Patriots in a Wyoming Valley 2 challenge on Wednesday, April 19. The Patriots enter the challenge with a record of 5-1. Pittston won 13-0 in their recent league challenge against James M. Coughlin (Wilkes-Barre, PA)
