Nelson County Governors (Lovingston, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Gretna Hawks (Gretna, VA), 3-0 in a league challenge.

The Governors now own a 5-6 record. They take the field next when they host William Campbell for a Dogwood challenge on Friday, April 21. Nelson County will face a Generals squad coming off a 17-5 league loss to Dan River (Ringgold, VA). The Generals record now stands at 3-6.

With the loss, Gretna falls to 1-7 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to Appomattox County (Appomattox, VA) to face the Raiders in a Dogwood challenge on Friday, April 21. The Raiders enter the challenge with a record of 9-1. Appomattox County won 3-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Jefferson Forest (Forest, VA)
