Mount Vernon Tigers (Mount Vernon, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mineola Yellowjackets (Mineola, TX), 9-2 in a league challenge.

The Tigers now sport a 8-7 record. They take the field next when they host Quitman for a 3A Region II District 13 challenge on Friday, April 5. Mount Vernon will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 10-0 non-league loss to Neches (Neches, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 8-9.

With the loss, Mineola falls to 12-8 on the campaign. The Yellowjackets host Chapel Hill (Mount Pleasant, TX) to face the Red Devils in a 3A Region II District 13 challenge on Friday, April 5. The Red Devils enter the challenge with a record of 4-14. Chapel Hill lost 17-0 in their recent league challenge against Winnsboro (Winnsboro, TX)
