New Mexico High School Softball - Wingate bounces Newcomb

In Monday's league match, the visiting Wingate Bears softball team scored a nice 22-13 win over the Newcomb Skyhawks.
The Bears (9-9) will now prepare for their match against Thoreau (Thoreau, NM). The Hawks come into the 3A District 1 match with a 5-11 record. In their last match, Thoreau notched a victory over Northwest (Shiprock, NM), 17-1, in a non-league match.
In their next game, the Skyhawks confront the Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM) in a 3A District 1 match, on Tuesday, April 28. Newcomb will attempt to better on its 3-15 season record. The Thunderbirds come into the match with a 6-15 record after their 16-4 league win over Thoreau (Thoreau, NM).
