The Wingate Bears overwhelmed the host Newcomb Skyhawks softball squad by a count of 11-4 in Monday's league challenge.

Next, the Bears meet the Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM) in a 3A District 1 challenge, on Monday, April 20. Wingate will attempt to upgrade on its 9-9 season record. The Skyhawks go into the challenge with a 3-13 record after their 17-6 league loss to Thoreau (Thoreau, NM).

The Skyhawks (3-15) will now prepare for their challenge against Wingate (Fort Wingate, NM). The Bears go into the 3A District 1 challenge with a 7-9 record. In their last challenge, Wingate was routed by Shiprock (Shiprock, NM), 14-4, in a non-league challenge.
